Tanning Workshops

Early humans wore skins for clothing even before the harnessing of fire and so the process of preserving skins is inherent in who we are at a fundamental level.

One does not have to go far back into one’s family tree to find ancestor’s who wore skins.   Each traditional culture records their own unique tradition of tanning leather for providing optimal protection from the elements on their ancestral lands.

As our first shelter, clothing is often the foremost priority for any survival living situation.

Backyard Buckskin workshops demonstrate traditional tanning methods with all-natural materials that are both readily accessible and sensitive to the natural environment.
